A mountain lion was spotted in the streets of Berkeley around 2 a.m. today. Police shot and killed it. It must have been scary and strange for the officers on duty to have to deal with this predator, bizarrely roaming in an urban area, but why wasn't it tranquilized instead? Seems like a waste of life.
