Interloping goat

That's pretty sweet that the little black goat is canoodling with the sheep, but it seems that there's an interloper on the scene.

Let's take a closer look:
Sneaky cute spy goat.

burro

These are a couple of free-range burros on a Caribbean island, standing in the middle of the road near the beach. The second one, a foal, is the out-of-focus gray thing taking up the right third of the shot, and that's mama on the left, of course. It's an extreme close-up of the foal: The black oblong spot is its eye. Another (clearer) photo of the babe exists; I'll post if it's popularly requested.

Bunnies and Blowfish

bunnies and blowfish from ananimal on Vimeo.

Pet stores can be so depressing. In addition to being crowded in a Plexiglas cage, these little rabbits get to listen to Darius Rucker's greatest hits (who, by the way, has since gone solo doing--wait for it--country music). It seems like the bunnies have moments of synchrony with the lyrics (famously not all intelligible, unlike Rucker's country stuff. It's a trip).

Bug porn

Tropical bug porn from the island of St. Thomas.
It's not quite as good as Green Porno or Seduce Me by Isabella Rossellini, which is certainly worth checking out. They are super short films about the mating and reproductive behaviors of insects and marine life using construction-paper puppets, starring Rossellini as the mating animal. The one where she is a salmon is quite humorous and well done, as is her dance as a bee. She's even begun a related series called Bon Appetit, about rethinking where seafood comes from and at what price. Bravo, Ms. Rossellini! And bravo for the anglerfish, too (the deep-sea fish with an underbite, sharp teeth and a bioluminescent lamp hanging over its head. These fish are fascinating beyond their appearance: Only the females look like this. The males are tiny and reproduce by permanently attaching to a female with their teeth, becoming a parasitic mate. They eventually lose all of their organs except their testes. Look it up, watch the clip; it's incredible).

Cat lured in a box

This cat was lured into a box with a piece of chicken. The blinky face is not an indicator of chicken drunkness, just a dislike of flash photography. Perfectly understandable.

Cat took the bait!

Cat in a box

A variation of the cat-in-a-bag theme.

Fiber One: Low in fat, high in fur.

 Oh, come on.
This little sicko is just asking to be mailed to Abu Dhabi like Garfield did to Nermal.

Cat in a Bag Week continues

Cat in a Bag Week: It's like Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, but much more nauseating. With less water. And less blood. And, um, sharks.
This classic gem here may be the best cat in a bag captured on film. Exhibit A: It's not just a cat, but it is in fact a kitten. B: It's a small kitten in spacious bag. C: Creatively disgusting use of bag's handle to expose ear. D: It may be blown out, but it's vintage. And the fact that time has not erased its overwhelming cuteness counts for lotsa points.
If any of the two readers out there care to dispute this photo's rank, please send (original) candidates.

Cat in a bag: one of my favorite themes. Enjoy these puke inducers below.

Not cute in any way, absolutely not right

Although I've been listening to and reading stories about the oil-spill calamity caused by BP in the Gulf, I've been avoiding looking at the photos. Obviously, it's not the usual kind of pictures posted on here, but they need to be seen. The way BP has blown it is unbelievable. An interesting perspective can be read here.

Camera hogs

The little pink one had such sparkle in its eye, tons of personality and that little corkscrew tail.

He (or she) hammed it up for the camera.

As for the other two, well, they just kind of lied around.
